Molding Optimism and Values through Education

Pre-school and early childhood education play a very important role in creating a strong foundation for life-long learning in children. In order for children to become life-long learners, they need proper guidance and care to build up their self-confidence, to encourage them to explore the world around them, to teach them how to regulate their behaviour and emotions while being able to express themselves sufficiently and create lasting relationships with others. The MovEd program commits to providing quality pre-school education and facilitating supplementary early childhood development care in the underserved communities of the Philippines where there is a lack of access and opportunity.

Early childhood education plays a very crucial role in laying the foundation for life-long learning. For children to become life-long learners they need proper guidance and care. By ensuring this children are able build their self-confidence, have the curiosity to explore the world around them, learn how to appropriate their behaviour and emotions, develop courage to express themselves and are open to build relationships with others. The MovEd program commits to providing quality pre-school education and facilitating supplementary early childhood development care in the underserved communities of the Philippines where there is a lack of access and opportunity.

 

Desired Outcomes of MovEd Education

MovEd aspires for every child to become:

• A confident individual with a strong sense of morality and capability in decision making. Someone who is optimistic, adaptable and resilient, has a strong sense of identity, is discerning in judgement and, thinks independently and critically while communicating effectively.

• A self-directed learner who takes responsibility for his/her own actions, who questions, reflects and perseveres in the pursuit of learning.

• An active contributor and team player who exercises initiative, takes calculated risks, is innovative and strives for excellence.

Key Stage Outcomes of Pre-school Education

At the pre-school level, the holistic development of children is most crucial. The key stage outcomes of the pre-school education module emphasizes the need for children to simultaneously build up confidence and social skills in order to be equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills and dispositions for life-long learning.

At the end of their pre-school education, children should:

• have a strong enough sense of judgement to discern between what is right and wrong

• be willing to share with others

• be able to relate with and connect effectively to others

• be curious and able to explore

• be able to listen and speak with understanding

• be comfortable and happy with themselves

• have developed physical coordination, healthy living habits, had the opportunity to participate in and enjoy a variety of arts and outside school experiences

• love their families, friends, teachers and most especially, life-long learning.
