Makati Shangri-La, Manila Helps Make #DreamsComeTrue This Christmas with MovED

Mar 21, 2017 9:00am

Makati Shangri-La, Manila helps make children’s dreams come true this Christmas in partnership with MovEd (Molding Optimism and Values through Education), a non-profit organization that provides education to disadvantaged children.

As the hotel celebrates the holiday season with A Timeless Christmas theme, Makati Shangri-La remains focused on its commitment to Embrace, one of its social responsibility initiatives that aims to provide educational support to children in underprivileged communities. This year, the hotel has selected to partner with MovEd, which is committed to providing holistic early childhood care and development programs through children’s formal and informal education and health, as well as livelihood skills training for parents and family care.

To seal the partnership, MovEd founder Alexandra Eduque, who has also been named as the World’s Most Outstanding Volunteer by the International Fundraising Congress based in the UK, has designed an exclusive Christmas-themed artwork for Makati Shangri-La, which is turned into an all-around eco-chic bag produced by bespoke home accessory and lifestyle brand, Oliver & Maude.

The eco bags measure 14 x 16 inches each, and is made of cotton canvas with a sublimation process. The bags are available exclusively at Makati Shangri-La, Manila’s reception and any of the hotel’s dining outlets. With a selling price of Php 500 per bag, each purchase helps send a child to school as proceeds will go to MovEd’s educational program.

L-R Makati Shangrila General Manager Alain Borgers, Simon Tantoco Board member & Alex Eduque Chair & Founder of Move.Org Foundation Inc. with Makati Shangri-la staff and MovEd children.

“As a relatively new NGO seeking to create ripples of change in the next generation, what is most important to us are partners and people who believe in us and in our mission. And that’s exactly what Makati Shangri-La has given us – the faith, the trust and the fuel to make that difference, one dream at a time,” stated MovEd founder Alexandra Eduque.

“Makati Shangri-La, Manila is very happy to work with MovEd this holiday season, and this is definitely a partnership that we are looking at long term. It is truly touching and humbling to know how these children’s dreams can slowly take shape and form, starting from a simple act of purchasing a bag,” said Makati Shangri-La, Manila’s hotel manager Andrew den Oudsten.
