Success Stories

January 7, 2020

Like many mothers in Barangay Tanza, Navotas, Maria Christina works hard to send her children to school in the hopes of giving them a better future. With one child already in the fourth grade, she worried about not having enough funds to send her younger daughter Ayezsa to school.

Believing in the potential of every child, MovEd schools are helping communities in Navotas realize the dreams they hold for their children. MovEd Learning Labs provided Ayezsa with basic school supplies and the learning environment to give her a head start in her education. Ayezsa also benefits from the feeding program that provides a meal each day to keep her and fellow students fit and healthy to learn and play.

MovEd continues to build and strengthen the cognitive abilities of young children which serve as a springboard for future academic achievements. The Navotas Learning Labs piloted a new curriculum that is more adaptable and culturally sensitive, allowing teachers and parents greater participation in its development and implementation in the classroom and at home.

Recognizing the critical stage children are in when they first set foot in a MovEd Learning Lab, every child is given the chance to grow and learn, cultivating skills and values to help them succeed later in life. New workbooks were introduced by MovEd to further reinforce these skills with the goal of systematically preparing children for the Philippine K-12 educational system.

Ayezsa holds up a page of her workbook where she diligently colored a sailboat. She and her peers are not only learning basic colors and numbers but also to follow directions, fine motor skills, arithmetic, and reading comprehension. Ayezsa has grown to be very bright and diligent student at MovEd’s Learning Lab. She knows how to create secondary colors, pick-up after herself and correctly follow instructions.

Ayezsa has become a model student for her peers and promises to be a confident and bright young girl. She wants to be a teacher when she grows up.

Ayezsa was awarded Best in Reading and Best in Writing during the school year 2018-2019 MovEd graduation. Since then, she has been showing outstanding performance in her new school. Ayezsa received the following awards: Artistic Hands (Writing), Awesome Artist (Coloring), Awesome Artist (Crafting), Eager Beaver, Brave Soul, Graceful Dancer and Kinder Leader. In addition to these, she was also the champion of the declamation competition held during the Buwan ng Wika celebration at their school.
